The Goo Goo Dolls are an American rock band, formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York by vocalist and guitarist John Rzeznik, bassist and vocalist Robby Takac and original drummer George Tutuska. Initially attracted by punk rock, later the band moved towards a more song based alternative rock sound which helped them reach the mainstream in the 1990’s. Before that they had years of gigs in clubs, releasing independent albums and then they started getting national attention with well known tracks like “Name”, “Slide”, “Black Balloon”, “Iris” and “Broadway”. “Iris” became one of the biggest rock songs ever out of those, man. It got worldwide acclaim and it’s still a real fan favorite even decades later, you know. The Goo Goo Dolls have sold millions of albums around the world throughout their career and they’ve become one of the more influential American rock bands from their time period.
